Event: Blood Donation Camp — IIMT College of Medical Sciences (Pharmacy)
Organised on 17 November 2025 during the 64th National Pharmacy Week with the theme “Pharmacists: Advocates of Vaccination.”
The Department of Pharmacy at IIMT College of Medical Sciences organised a successful Blood Donation Camp to coincide with National Pharmacy Week 2025. The event underscored pharmacists’ expanding role in public health and community service, reinforcing their position as healthcare advocates beyond the dispensary.

Strong Community Response — Over 80 Donors
More than 80 donors — including students, faculty, and staff — participated enthusiastically. Given that each unit of donated blood can support up to three lives, the collective contribution from this single-day event represented a significant augmentation to local blood reserves and emergency care capacity.
Goals and Impact
- Raise awareness about voluntary blood donation among students and the broader community.
- Demonstrate pharmacists’ leadership in preventive and emergency public health measures.
- Build a culture of altruism and regular blood donation on campus.
Coordination and Medical Safety
The camp was organised in collaboration with the Unique Charitable Blood Bank, whose medical team handled donor screening, collection, and post-donation care following standard safety protocols. The event featured: registration desks, health screening booths, donor counseling, a medical collection area, and a recovery area with refreshments and observation.
Key Organisers and Leadership
The smooth execution was made possible by the dedicated coordination of Ms. Iram Rajpoot and Mrs. Jyoti Daksh. The initiative took place under the guidance of Dean Dr. Milind Sharad Pande, Deputy Dean Dr. Anuj Kumar Sharma, and Head of Department Dr. Garima Garg. Their leadership ensured adherence to institutional protocols while encouraging active student participation.
Linking the Event to National Pharmacy Week Theme
Aligned with the NPW theme, “Pharmacists: Advocates of Vaccination”, the camp emphasised pharmacists’ broader responsibilities — from immunisation advocacy to emergency response readiness. The event served as a practical demonstration of how pharmacists engage in health promotion and community resilience-building activities.
Student Engagement and Learning Outcomes
Student volunteers gained hands-on experience in event management, donor interaction, and public health communication. Participation fostered:
- Empathy and social responsibility
- Practical exposure to community health operations
- Leadership and teamwork skills useful in professional pharmacy practice
Call to Continued Action
The Department encourages regular voluntary blood donation drives and community outreach programs to sustain the momentum generated during National Pharmacy Week. Building a robust campus-based donor network will ensure a reliable, safe blood supply for local hospitals and emergency services.
