Convocation Ceremony is a day full of excitement and enthusiasm as it amalgamates profound memories of the past and huge dreams for the future. Graduation day is the dream of every student who strived and struggled for this moment, to become competent enough to fulfill his parents dreams. One of the supremely valuable pictures marking the rite of voyage from being graduands to graduates is that of students wearing black capes and tossing their tasseled caps in the air when they receive their degress at the convocation ceremony.
The 1st Convocation of IIMT University, Meerut was held on 30 October, 2021 in the lush green beautiful lawn of IIMT Engineering College Building. The Chief guest of the function was Hon’ble Shri Pankaj Mittal (Chief Justice, J &K and Laddakh) , the Guest of Honour was Hon’ble Shri Brijesh Pathak (Cabinet Minister, U.P), the other Guest of Honor was Hon’ble Shri K.K Upadhyay (Editor U.P and U.K Janta T.V).
The Chief Guest of the day, Guest of Honor and other dignitaries were warmly welcomed and received by the Hon’ble Chancellor of the University and the Officials of the Executive Council. The special guard of honor was given to them and then they proceeded to the administrative block to wear the Convocation attire.
After the academic procession, comprising the Chancellor, the Vice Chancellor, members of executive Council, members of academic Council, the registrar, the Chief Guest, Guest of honour and other dignitaries reached the venue. Then the dignitaries were requested to come on the stage and adorn the dias.
Light symbolizes knowledge, purity and is the dispeller of the darkness. “If you light a lamp for someone else it will brighten your path also” says Lord Buddha.
All the dignitaries and guests participated in the invocation Ceremony and received blessings of Maa Saraswati on behalf of all. A warm welcome is the first sign of cordiality and warmth and makes one feel that he is meant to be there, the Chancellor, the Chief Guest and the Guest of honor of the occasion were welcomed by the Vice Chancellor by presenting a bouquet.
Thereafter, the Vice Chancellor requested and the Chancellor Prof. Yogesh Mohanji Gupta declared the Convocation open. The welcome address was delivered, followed by the introduction of the Chief Guests, the Guest of Honor & the Chancellor by the Vice Chancellor. Then the progress report of the University was also presented by the Vice Chancellor.
This was followed by the conferment of degrees on graduands of various Schools of IIMT University and award of gold medals to graduates, post graduate and diploma toppers by the Chief Guest, Guest of Honor, the Chancellor and the Vice-Chancellor. The various other prominent awards that were given -
- Major Dhyan Chand sports award to the students who played at the university, national and international levels.
- A.P.J Abdul Kalam Memorial award to the research and innovation projects recognized at the national level.
- Medals and Certificates to the students whose participation was extraordinary in various competitions organized by the University.
- Lt. Om Prakash Gupta Memorial Award to University Topper
- Smt. (Dr.) Satya Prabha Gupta Gold Medal to Schools’ Toppers
- Chancellor Gold Medal to graduate, Postgraduate and diploma Toppers.
The new graduates were then initiated and administered the oath by the Vice Chancellor. On the request of Vice chancellor, the Chief Guest Hon’ble Shri Pankaj Mittal (Chief Justice, J &K and Laddakh) addressed the gathering and encouraged and enlightened the fresh graduates. Then the Chancellor of the University delivered his presidential address and the Vice Chancellor proposed a Vote of Thanks. This was followed by Presentation of memento to the Chief Guest, Guest of Honor and the Chancellor by the Vice Chancellor of the University. Then the 1st Convocation came to an end and dissolved with the permission of the Chancellor. Everyone sang the National Anthem and finally the academic progression regrouped and left the Venue.
When a student is conferred with a degree, it gives confidence to embark the journey of professional life but a degree can only help to enter the organization, the real success comes with the high level of Integrity, learning agility and unwavering commitment to produce quality results in the organization. Every IIMTian possess these qualities as the Culture of IIMTU is such to groom them accordingly.
The fresh graduates will certainly cherish this convocation as a remarkable, memorable and knowledgeable day. Their sparkling eyes and confident smile was the indicator that they are all set to take this world into their stride.
The First Convocation of IIMT University concluded but the end of a story is the new beginning for many others. The entire IIMT family wished them good luck with an assurance that this is not an end but the beginning of a new association , they can remain connected throughout their life as a valued and forever loved Alumni.
