On the occasion of National Pharmacy Week, IIMT College of Medical Sciences & Pharmacy conducted a community health outreach at Kasthala Village with the theme “Pharmacists: Advocates of Vaccination.” The program provided free screenings, vaccination awareness sessions, expert consultations, and medication counselling to residents of the village.

Event Coordinators: Iram Rajpoot, Jyoti Daksh, Tarun Kumar • Inaugurated by: Dean Dr. Millind Sharad Pande

Comprehensive Free Health Services Delivered to Kasthala Village

Our medical and pharmacy teams arrived at Kasthala Village at 10:00 AM and set up multiple service stations for rapid but thorough care: general medical check-ups, blood pressure monitoring, blood glucose testing, medication reviews, and brief counselling on chronic disease prevention. In keeping with the event theme, dedicated sessions focused on immunization benefits, common vaccine myths, and the logistics of accessing vaccines in rural settings.

Leadership and Academic Presence

The camp was formally inaugurated by Dean Dr. Millind Sharad Pande, who emphasized the vital role pharmacists play as community health advocates. Deputy Dean Dr. Anuj Kumar Sharma and HOD Dr. Garima Garg also participated, lending clinical expertise and institutional support. Their combined messages reinforced the importance of preventive care and the educational mission of the college.

Community Engagement and Response

The outreach recorded a strong turnout. Villagers responded positively to interactive training components where pharmacists demonstrated correct medication administration, storage best practices, and when to seek higher-level care. The interactive sessions used simple visuals and local language explanations to maximize comprehension. Community leaders and attendees praised the initiative for its practical value and empathic approach.

Event Coordination & Volunteer Effort

Coordinators Iram Rajpoot, Jyoti Daksh, and Tarun Kumar oversaw logistics including crowd flow, triage, record-keeping and post-visit follow-ups. Student volunteers from IIMT College contributed actively—conducting preliminary screenings, registering attendees, and distributing informational leaflets. The teamwork ensured efficient throughput while maintaining patient privacy and comfort.

Clinical Services and Educational Components

  • Health screenings: Blood pressure, blood sugar, BMI checks, and basic physical examinations.
  • Consultations: On-site consultations addressing acute complaints and chronic disease management advice.
  • Vaccination awareness: Sessions debunking myths, explaining vaccine schedules, and describing safety monitoring.
  • Medication counselling: Safe storage, adherence tips, and common side-effect education.

Impact Assessment and Follow-up Plan

To ensure continuity of care, the team documented cases requiring follow-up and coordinated referrals to nearby primary health centres. The college plans to track key metrics such as number of screenings, referrals made, and vaccine-related inquiries to measure impact and refine future outreach design.

Voices from the Field

Participants expressed gratitude for the free services and speaking opportunities to clarify vaccine concerns. Local leaders noted the camp strengthened trust in formal healthcare providers and opened channels for ongoing health education.

Why Pharmacists as Vaccine Advocates Matter

Pharmacists are uniquely positioned at the interface of medicine and community. Their frequent patient contact makes them ideal advocates for vaccination uptake, medication safety, and public health education. Initiatives like this camp demonstrate how pharmacy education can translate directly into improved community outcomes.
