A TED UP and TED India initiative inspiring minds in Meerut
Meerut, India: The latest edition of TEDx IIMT University captured the true essence of challenging conventions under the theme “Break the Flow.” Organized under the banner of TED University and hosted at IIMT University, Meerut, the event became a hub for innovators, artists, and changemakers who have redefined success through resilience and courage. It proudly represented TED UP and TED India on a grand scale.
This year’s theme — Break the Flow — encouraged participants to question societal norms, rethink limitations, and pursue originality. Through diverse talks, the speakers shared how breaking conventional patterns leads to innovation, empathy, and impact.

Chancellor Yogesh Mohanji Gupta: Building from Adversity
Chancellor Yogesh Mohanji Gupta opened the event with an inspiring address on how adversity fuels strength. Sharing his personal journey, he highlighted that losing his father early in life only strengthened his resolve to create change through education. His leadership transformed IIMT into a leading TED University hub with campuses across Meerut and Noida, a true reflection of breaking the ordinary flow of education.
Vice-Chancellor Dr. Deepa Sharma: Cultivating Thinkers Who Break Barriers
Dr. Deepa Sharma emphasized that TEDx IIMT University exemplifies the mission of TED India— spreading ideas that spark transformation. She urged students to think critically, act boldly, and embrace change as a catalyst for growth. Her address positioned IIMT University as a pioneering institution within the TED UP network.
Siddharth Sagar: Breaking the Flow of Pain
Comedian and performer Siddharth Sagar shared his deeply personal story of overcoming depression and addiction. He encouraged the audience to “break the flow of negativity” and find strength through self-belief and purpose. His talk at TED Meerut moved everyone with its authenticity and emotional depth.
Alka Tomar: Breaking Gender Barriers through Wrestling
Arjuna Awardee Alka Tomar shared her story of determination from Sisoli village, Meerut, to international wrestling championships. At a time when women in sports faced immense obstacles, she chose to break the flow of tradition and prove her strength on the mat, winning medals for India on the global stage.
Miriam Chandy Menacherry: Breaking the Flow through Storytelling
Documentary filmmaker Miriam Chandy Menacherry, founder of Filament Pictures, illustrated how storytelling can inspire action and empathy. Her films have reshaped narratives, giving a voice to the unheard. Speaking at TED UP, she showed how powerful stories can “break the flow” of silence and spark social change.
Piyush Sharma: Breaking the Flow of Conventional Learning
Piyush Sharma, the mind behind Tricky Man and one of India’s top education influencers, discussed how digital platforms can democratize learning. His message at TED India resonated with youth — “Don’t wait for opportunity; create your own path.”
Nishtha Mishra: Breaking the Flow of Traditional Marketing
Nishtha Mishra, founder of FirstShot Technologies, highlighted how AI and technology are redefining the marketing world. Her talk at TED Meerut inspired entrepreneurs to “break the flow” of old business models and embrace ethical innovation.
Sparsh Agarwal: Breaking the Flow of Pollution through EV Innovation
Sparsh Agarwal, CEO of AP Mobility India Pvt. Ltd., spoke about clean energy and India’s transition toward electric mobility. He motivated young minds to innovate responsibly and “break the flow” of pollution and unsustainable practices — reflecting the environmental consciousness at the heart of TED University.
A Celebration of Culture, Art, and Purpose
The TEDx IIMT University stage came alive with performances by Kapil Dinkar and IIMT’s talented students. Music and dance segments celebrated diversity, while heartfelt speeches inspired the audience to keep pushing boundaries. The event was beautifully curated by Dr. Vaibhav Sharma, Dr. Akshay Raj, Dr. Vatsala Tomar, and Ms. Zeba Tyagi, whose efforts made TEDx IIMT a grand success.
