Invitation to Showcase Work at RCI-IIT Roorkee

As a part of our journey, we were invited by RCI-IIT Roorkee to participate in a prestigious orientation program. On September 7th, 2024, a team comprising three talented students and led by our esteemed faculty member, Dr. Shubha Dwivedi, Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Biotechnology, attended the event. The Regional Coordinating Institute (RCI) at IIT Roorkee aimed to inspire and provide a platform for the Top 5 Participating Institutions (PCI) to showcase their projects, initiatives, and successes.

Participation in Knowledge-Sharing Session

During the orientation, the objective was clear: to foster collaboration and knowledge sharing between the top-performing institutions and other PCI members. The orientation allowed us to present our key achievements and highlight the pivotal role that IIMT University plays in empowering rural communities through technology and education.

Our presentation included success stories from IIMT University’s UBA Cell, emphasizing our rural engagement programs and innovative initiatives. This exposure not only elevated our standing among Unnat Bharat Abhiyan institutions but also gave us the opportunity to collaborate with thought leaders, including:

  • Prof. K.K. Pant, Director of IIT Roorkee
  • Prof. P.K. Singh, Project Director of NCI-IIT Delhi
  • Dr. Sunil Dubey, Deputy Director, Department of Agriculture
  • Prof. Ashish Pandey, RCI-IIT Roorkee Coordinator

Innovative Projects from UBA Cell of IIMT University

The UBA Cell at IIMT University has undertaken several impactful projects aimed at improving the socio-economic status of rural communities. Our initiatives include:

  1. Sustainable Agriculture and Livelihood Development Programs: We have implemented cutting-edge solutions that promote sustainable farming practices. By introducing advanced agricultural techniques, we aim to improve crop yields and income for rural farmers.
  2. Renewable Energy Solutions: One of the key initiatives of the UBA Cell is the promotion of renewable energy in rural areas. Our team has worked on deploying solar energy systems to provide off-grid villages with reliable, clean electricity, helping to reduce dependence on non-renewable resources.
  3. Skill Development and Vocational Training: Through skill development workshops, we are helping local communities acquire new skills that will enhance their employability. This includes training in agricultural technologies, handicrafts, and basic IT skills.
  4. Health and Sanitation Campaigns: Our health awareness programs have played a significant role in improving rural health. We conduct regular medical camps, distribute sanitation kits, and educate communities on hygiene practices, contributing to better health outcomes.
  5. Water Conservation Projects: Addressing the critical issue of water scarcity, we have launched water conservation programs in several villages, promoting rainwater harvesting and efficient water management techniques to ensure sustainable water resources.
