About Ayurveda Medical Science

The ancient Indian medical system, also known as Ayurveda, is based on ancient writings that rely on a “natural” and holistic approach to physical and mental health. Ayurvedic medicine is one of the world’s oldest medical systems and remains one of India’s traditional health care systems. Ayurvedic treatment combines products (mainly derived from plants, but may also include animal, metal, and mineral), diet, exercise, and lifestyle. Ayurveda therapies have varied and evolved over more than two millennia. Therapies include herbal medicines, special diets, meditation, yoga, massage, laxatives, enemas, and medical oils. Ayurvedic preparations are typically based on complex herbal compounds, minerals, and metal substances (perhaps under the influence of early Indian alchemy or rasashastra).

Ayurveda has eight ways to diagnose illness, called Nadi (pulse), Mootra (urine), Mala (stool), Jihva (tongue), Shabda (speech), Sparsha (touch), Druk (vision), and Aakruti (appearance).

The Ayurveda Medical Science program at IIMT University is rooted in the rich heritage of ancient Indian medical knowledge and holistic healing practices. With a strong focus on traditional Ayurvedic principles, this program aims to develop highly skilled professionals capable of addressing modern healthcare challenges through natural and time-tested approaches. Students receive comprehensive training in Ayurvedic medicine, diagnostics, Panchakarma therapy, herbal pharmacology, and wellness management under the guidance of experienced practitioners and faculty.

Equipped with modern facilities and a fully functional Ayurvedic hospital, the program offers a balanced integration of theoretical knowledge and hands-on clinical exposure, ensuring graduates are prepared for successful careers in Ayurveda and allied healthcare fields.
