Ph.D. ADMISSION GUIDELINES FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

a) As per new guidelines issued by Ministry of Home Affairs, of India, it is mandatory for all foreign students to first register on Study in India (SII) website & generates a Unique SII ID to initiate admission process.

This SII ID will be the main tracking ID for foreign students for their complete student journey.

b) Students will be granted Student visa and E-student Visa, only if they have unique SII

c) If a student has paid fees to the institute and the institute has updated the same on SII website, then the foreign student is eligible for E- student Visa as well.

d) The Institute’s confirmation of the student’s fee payment supports the visa verification process, without which student might not be granted the visa.

e) MHA can verify the foreign student’s details via their SII ID by logging into their BOI Module on SII website.

III. GENERAL RULES:

  1. Foreign National students who are being sponsored by any Government Body such as the ICCR or MOE (Ministry of Education) or a government agency of their own country, will be given direct admission to Ph.D. subject to the approval of the concerned Department/Institute/Centre.
  2. Candidates selected for Ph.D. admission shall be issued provisional admission letters, with a copy to the embassy concerned, to facilitate their visa process. The enrolment would be finally based on production of valid Research Visa.
  3. Candidates admitted to the Ph.D. Programme shall have to complete the course work offered by the concerned Faculty/Department/Centre satisfactorily as per IIMT University rules. They will have to join the course work in the semester that follows the completion of their admission formalities.
  4. Other Rules and regulations of IIMT University notified from time to time shall apply to Foreign National students as well.

IV. ELIGIBILITY AND ADMISSION CRITERION:

  1. A candidate seeking admission to the D Programme must have obtained a Masters

Degree or a degree recognized by the IIMT University as equivalent to its master’s degree in the subject in which the candidate wishes to pursue a course of research or in a subject allied there to.

OR

A 1-year/2-semester master's degree programme after a 4-year/8-semester bachelor’s degree programme or a 2-year/4-semester master’s degree programme after a 3-year bachelor’s degree programme or qualifications declared equivalent to the master’s degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade in a point scale wherever

grading system is followed.

OR

Equivalent qualification from a foreign educational institution accredited by an assessment and accreditation agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country to assess, accredit or assure quality and standards of the educational institution.

  1. Provided that a candidate seeking admission after a 4-year/8-semester bachelor’s degree programme should have a minimum of 75% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade on a point scale wherever the grading system is followed.

  1. The students seeking admission to any course which is governed by Regulatory Bodies (e.g. Bar Council of India/Pharmacy Council of India etc.) must possess the basic academic qualification prescribed by the respective Regulatory Body. The Rules of respective Regulatory Bodies shall apply as amended from time to
  1. International students will need to achieve at least 5 bands in IELTS Academic or 60 bands in TOEFL or 150-154 in GRE or 600 in GMAT. At the time of filling the enrolment form, the candidates are required to attach the score-card of any of the above tests.

However, those students are not required to submit certificate of IELTS/TOEFL score, who have successfully passed the qualifying Degree as per Point 1 of clause IV (ELIGIBILITY AND ADMISSION CRITERION)

OR

 a degree recognized by the IIMT University as equivalent to its master’s degree from a University/ Institution/Board having English as medium of instruction for the entire course. Such students are required to submit ‘Medium of Instruction Certificate’ issued by the concerned University/Institution/Board attended by the student.

  1. The candidates will have to qualify the interview conducted by the concerned department for final selection. (The result will be announce by the COE office of IIMT University)
  1. The candidates are advised to consult the faculty members to check specialization of faculty members of the Department/Centre where they plan to pursue their Ph.D.

V. ADMISSION PROCEDURE:

  • The application for admission shall be submitted to the office of the Deputy Registrar Research, IIMT University Meerut..
  • In case, the documents/testimonials are in a language other than English, the same must be translated into English and attested by the embassy of the respective country.
  • The application must be accompanied by a research proposal of minimum one thousand words clearly specifying the major area and sub-areas of the research topic on which the candidate plans to pursue his/her research.

VII. FEE FOR Ph.D. PROGRAMME:

  1. A fee of US …………………… per annum (w.e.f. the date of enrolment) shall be charged from Foreign National applicants belonging to SAARC and underdeveloped countries and US $ ………………………. per annum shall be charged from Foreign National Applicants belonging to developing and developed countries.
  2. Currency Equivalency Certificate issued by the concerned bank for current exchange rate on that day.
  3. Foreign Students are required to submit “Students Welfare Fee” @ Rs……………………./- (annually) which may be deposited with the ‘FEE Counter, Administrative Block 127, IIMT UNIVERSITY, Meerut. Original Receipts of the fee deposited is to be submitted to the office of the Deputy Registrar.

X. CERTIFICATES/DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR ADMISSION:

Foreign Nationals students shall provide the following certificates/documents (whichever is applicable):

  1. Academic Certificates/documents
  2. Eligibility/equivalency certificate issued by the Deputy Registrar (Research), IIMT University, meerut or Academic certificates of passing the qualifying or equivalent examination approved by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU)/Common wealth

Universities/International Association of Universities (IAU) as equivalent to the corresponding Indian Degrees/Certificates.

  1. Medium of Instruction Certificate’, provided the student belongs to non-English speaking Country and have successfully passed the degree/lower examination/course through English medium (if possible).
  2. Certificate of IELTS (at least Band 5) or TOEFL (at least 60 Bands), if the student belongs to non-English Speaking Country (if applicable).
  3. Copy of the Passport

XI. DOCUMENTS TO BE SUBMITTED AFTER CONFIRMATION OF ADMISSION:

  1. The Foreign National students admitted are required to fill up Foreign Student Information System (FSIS) Form complete in all respects, along with copies of passport and Visa and submit to the office of Deputy registrar (Research), IIMT University, Meerut. This form is an urgent requirement of the Foreign Registration Office (FRO), Address2, East Block-VIII, Level-V, Sector 1, Rama Krishna Puram, New Delhi, Delhi 110066, and the student has to report to the Foreign Registration Office (FRO) within fourteen days of arrival in Meerut, with the number generated after the online submission of this form. Foreign Students Information System (FSIS) Form is to be submitted by hand by the student and the FSIS number will be issued by the office of the Office of the Deputy Registrar (Research)’ office to the students.
