About Department
Life Science basically consists of the scientific study of life and organisms encompassing microorganisms, plants and animals including human beings. At the Department of Biotechnology and Microbiology of the School of Life Sciences and Technology offers Under Graduate, Post-Graduate and Doctoral courses in Biotechnology, Microbiology and Biology fields.
The study of all living organisms that are too small to be visible with the naked eye is called Microbiology and the field that exploits the living organisms to make technological advances in various fields for the sustainable development of mankind is known as Biotechnology. The use of biotechnology can be seen in agriculture, industries, and health care. Examples are- genetically modified products in the agricultural field and pharmaceutical products. Biology is the study of living things and their vital processes or we can say that it is the study of life. Traditions of medicine collective knowledge from physicians and works of prominent historical figures such as Aristotle eventually coalesced into the field of study we know today as biology.

The IIMT University has been established under Uttar Pradesh Act Number 32 of 2016. Gazette notified by the Government of Uttar Pradesh Dated 16 September, 2016. As per procedure for establishment of any state private university as outlined in the act, the university shall promulgate its ordinances and statues/rules and regulations for conduct of various programs.
