About Department

The Department of Community Sciences at IIMT University is a dynamic academic unit dedicated to advancing education and research in the fields of food, nutrition, and dietetics. Formerly known as the Department of Home Science, it has been re-envisioned to align with contemporary societal needs, emphasizing holistic health, sustainable living, and community empowerment.

The department offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs—B.Sc. (Food, Nutrition and Dietetics) and M.Sc. (Food, Nutrition and Dietetics)—that blend scientific knowledge with hands-on training and professional readiness. Students gain exposure to core subjects like human nutrition, dietetics, food science, biochemistry, microbiology, public health, and therapeutic nutrition, along with emerging areas such as nutrigenomics, functional foods, and food technology.

Through its robust infrastructure—including specialized laboratories, a diet counseling lab, a resource-rich library, and smart classrooms—the department fosters experiential learning and research-driven practice. Industrial visits, hospital internships, and USR (University Social Responsibility) activities ensure students are not only industry-ready but also socially conscious.

Collaborations & Accreditation

The IIMT University has been established under Uttar Pradesh Act Number 32 of 2016. Gazette notified by the Government of Uttar Pradesh Dated 16 September, 2016. As per procedure for establishment of any state private university as outlined in the act, the university shall promulgate its ordinances and statues/rules and regulations for conduct of various programs.
