IIMT University is committed to promoting social responsibility and outreach activities among the youth. As part of this effort, the university has opened its first student chapter in collaboration with Indian Water Resource Management (IWRS), IIT Roorkee.
The official opening of the chapter took place at a conference organized by the IWRS local center in Meerut on World Water Day 2023. The IWRS Student Chapter aims to align with the United Nations' sustainable development goals, with a focus on achieving SDG 6: Clean Water & Sanitation.
The charter for the student chapter was handed over to Dr. Shubha Dwivedi, Chairman of the IWRS Student Chapter at IIMT University, by Er. B.D. Sharma, Convener of the IWRS Local Center in Meerut. The chapter has already attracted 58 student members, and will work towards promoting the values of sustainability and responsible resource management among the youth.
The IWRS Student Chapter at IIMT University will provide students with the opportunity to participate in research and outreach activities related to water resource management. Members of the chapter will engage in activities such as organizing workshops, seminars, and community outreach programs aimed at creating awareness about water conservation and management.
The launch of the IWRS Student Chapter at IIMT University is a significant step towards promoting sustainable development in the region. The collaboration with IWRS, IIT Roorkee, is expected to bring new perspectives and innovative ideas to the table, helping students to become agents of change in the field of water resource management.
